HBP Call for Elections & Year End

Dear HBP Members and Blog Readers,

We've had a wonderful year full of events, in which we’ve learned many things from and about one another, developed HBP’s blog, and expanded our international partnerships to the U.S., Pakistan and across Ontario. HBP’s activities this year were featured in various countries including Israel, Pakistan, Canada and the US, and the blog has attracted readers from all over the world!

Many of these activities could not have been possible without the great team of executives and volunteers who supported coordinated, created partnerships and provided invaluable advice. I would like to thank you all!
With this in mind, I would like to open up a call for 2011-12 elections. All the positions are open, as many of the executives are graduating.
 
Some of the benefits of getting involved with HBP include:

1. Engage in a leadership opportunity that makes a difference to the York community and beyond

2. Opportunity to work with like-minded network of student leaders and health professionals from around the world

3. Gain health-related leadership experience for those planning a career in medicine/ public health/ nursing/ or other related fields

HBP’s alumni have gone to practice medicine, dentistry, public health, education, and mental health. By joining the executive team, you can connect with this interdisciplinary network of young professionals.

Event Description: Interfaith & Humanity: Out of the Cold Program
Jewish and Muslim communities share many important values that originate from common religious teachings. As students, we want to illustrate the importance of working together through shared values to make a difference in our local community, despite our religious and political differences.
Join the TZEDAKA-SADAQAH Project on March 2nd, when students will have the opportunity to prepare sandwiches for an Out of the Cold Program in London Ontario, while meeting new students from different faiths while exploring commonalities and honouring differences in a safe environment.

Event Description: Networks of Cooperation: Case Studies from the Middle East
An international video conference highlighting two case studies involving two networks of doctors and health professionals in the Middle East and North America. Dr. James Leckman of Empowerment and Resilience in Children Everywhere (ERICE) and Dr. Arnold Noyek of the Canada International Scientific Exchange Program (CISEPO) will discuss their challenges, successes, and how health helped them to bridge differences.

Event Description: Pakistan’s Patriot Act: Looking Into the Future

SZABIST Social Sciences Society invites you to participate in the Patriot’s Act to better assess
“What Pakistan Needs Now.”
Being Social Scientists ourselves, we understand that there is a need for the educated and energetic Pakistani youth of today to come together and come up with practical solutions to solve the multitude of problems Pakistan is facing today. We wish to give such students a platform where they can actively debate, criticize, analyze and reflect on various problems and at the same time reminisce the history of our culture through literature.
We welcome all students who wish to revive the Social Scientists within them through our interactive sessions.
